Colleen Dewhurst: How It's Done

Interview with Colleen Dewhurst

I'm bored to death with talk about acting. I'm bored when painters talk about painting or dancers talk about dancing. Every second that an artist is talking about HOW it is done, they are NOT doing it, and that, to me, is horrible and enraging. Actors talk about acting when they're unemployed and bored and poor, and they don't seem to know that the talking keeps them unemployed and bored and poor. If you want to know what I think about acting, come and see me act. I'll play for the damned tickets myself, if only to prevent another conversation on how it's done.
