Dennis Hopper: The Stain of the Haunt
Interview with Dennis Hopper
Conducted by James Grissom
(The conversations with Dennis Hopper will be available as an e-book in the coming weeks.)
Oh, but all places
are haunted. Any place that has had life and drama has the stain of the haunt.
This is great; this gives the vast room that is life its wonderful perfume. We
should welcome the act of walking above, around, and through the spirits of the
dead. We should speak to them and listen to them. I wanted to know the haunted
Midwest; I came to know the haunted California and the deeply haunted New
Mexico. I'm not afraid of any of it--I'm only afraid of not knowing what came
before and what it meant.
